About
Mocha Moms Sacramento was charted in March of 2020 by 5 local Sacramento area moms who saw a need to bring mothers-of-color together. They recognized that sometimes it can be difficult to find and connect with other moms.
Our chapter provides friendship, connection, and support for mommies all over the Sacramento region no matter what stage of motherhood they might be in. Our goal is to develop a strong network and presence of black mothers in the Sacramento area.
Sacramento Mocha Moms is one of the many chapters nationwide under the National Organization called Mocha Moms, Inc. which is a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization.
History, Mission & Purpose of Mocha Moms, Inc.
Four Maryland women who wanted to connect mothers of color from across the country who were taking time off from their careers to raise their children founded Mocha Moms, Inc. in 1997. It first began as a newsletter intended to encourage at-home mothers of color to feel good about their choice and to provide information to enrich their parenting experience. The idea quickly caught on and the women decided to form the organization. Years later it was decided that Mocha Moms, Inc. should expand its reach in order to support and encourage all mothers of color.
The primary mission is to support and encourage women who are making parenting a priority during this season in their lives. Our focus is to provide sisterhood, support and service. Mocha Moms, Inc. serves as an advocate for all mothers of color and encourages volunteerism and community activism within its ranks.
What We Do
We understand how important it is to get away and have adult time. Mocha Moms Sacramento hosts regular mom’s only in-person & virtual activities such as fireside chats, wine & food pairing, painting, hiking, cooking classes, spa days, and so much more!
